Happy Birthday, Dr. King!

In honor of our remembrance of MLK’s birthday, and as a reminder of the work that still lies ahead, I’ve added a new feature to this blog. If you scroll down, you’ll see on the side bar a link to videos that I recommend. My first pick is of the entire “I have a dream” speech. So sit down and have a listen, and stay posted for new videos as I sort out what out there is worthwhile from all the junk that is also out there.
On a related note, I heard on the radio today about more trouble in Jena, Louisiana, where some white supremacists were protesting the national holiday. Of course, our constitution guarantees them the right to free speech, so I guess while it sickens me to hear about the kind of hate that motivates such displays, my response does not have to be equally hateful. Their views say more about them than it does about the people they hate. And who knows, the more vocal they are, the more others will see them for what they are and perhaps turn away from even milder such sentiments.

Here is my favorite MLK quote:
“In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”
