I just returned from Baden after a Congregational meeting…more about that later. So I just replied to Richard’s comment on my last blog entry, and now I turn to my topic for this evening, which is simply to ask your prayers for our Sr. Dorothy, who is dying.
Dorothy is one of our senior sisters who is assigned to pray for me in particular – I know, it’s a tough job… When I visited her at the hospital on Friday, I didn’t know yet that she was dying, and so when she said it was “the end of the road” for her, I thought it was just that she was moving from our supportive living area at the motherhouse to the Villa. My heart was breaking a little when I learned that “the end of the road” was closer than I thought it was.
I’m grateful, very grateful, that I had the opportunity to stop in the Villa to see her and say good-bye before I left today. It’s hard, but so inspiring to be around someone who is grateful for the good life they’ve had and who is ready to move on or stay around for a while, if that’s what God wants.
What can my response be but to cheer her on, and pray that her transition will be peaceful?
