Here’s a second delayed post, so you have something to read while I’m making my annual retreat. On July 3, I was back in Honolulu after my 3 days on Maui. Spent several hours exploring on bike the area near where I’ve been staying. From the CSJ Carondelet Center (about the midpoint of the route displayed on the map below), I headed east and decided to turn back after encountering a big, long hill around the north side of Koko Head Crater (didn’t want to chance it without carrying any water with me.) I doubled back and then ventured in the other direction (after some lunch and rehydration), going around Diamond Head on the makai (towards the ocean) side, and returning on the mauka (towards the mountains) side.
I was gone about 4 hours, including stops to rest or just enjoy the scenery. Even with sunscreen, my lower arms really show how intense the sun was. Sr. M. took me down to Aloha Tower that evening to enjoy some July 3 fireworks.
Well, that’s going to be it until the end of my retreat, around July 12 or so. You should see me resurface, if only to respond to comments on this or other posts, sometime shortly after I finish retreat. Please pray for me, and I will do the same for you.
