Okay, so I had a few requests for this photo…I may add more to this post later, but am in the middle of a meeting at the moment.
Later…Incidentally, some of our nuns told me that this really was a standard haircut in the days of the full habit, when longer hair would have just made it more difficult to put on the veil and all the other linens that went with it.
It is interesting to note the various responses I got…a number of sisters complimented me on the new look. A number just commented that it was really a different look – kind of my own feeling about it… Some said nothing, which is ok, too. I got some other interesting responses – like the sister who when she saw me worried that I may have been sick. Another said I had guts; that she would have stayed home if she ended up with a haircut like this. A friend of mine who likes to tease me unmercifully about many things, took to calling me (I’m sure her intent was meant to be affectionate teasing) Sister Auschwitz, which after several times of hearing it, prompted me to point out to her that it wasn’t a particularly kind thing to say. To her credit, she refrained from repeating this the next day.
I wonder what it is that makes some folks need to give an opinion about something that really doesn’t have anything to do with them… do I do that to others, I wonder?
beautiful! I must say that I love the ‘nun-do’ though i’m not sure it would wear well on me…my face looks better with a bob.
love the new do – quite flattering – it speaks to be of Freedom! – wish I had the courage to do the same.
Very cute Sandy, I still think you ought to get “Rewind” and spike it up a bit. I find my head really gets cold in winter with these short hairdos.
Sandy, I can’t see the photo. For some reason, my PC is not showing a .png file. 😦
Changed to .JPG…can you see it now?
Oh my – That is short! I bet it’s super cute when you spike it!
As much as I have always liked my hair short, I went looking through some old pictures from my college days, and my 31-almost-32-year-old-eyes now see how my extremely short, funky-colored hair might’ve been juuuust a little too short. I see how I must’ve looked to the 30+ crowd when I did it, back in my early 20s. Of course I insisted it was the coolest thing since sliced bread at the time! Flipping thru the pictures last night, though, I winced. 😉
You probably do, we all seem to. Isn’t that what blogging is all about. Some people do seem to have lost that part of their brain that filters what you should say or not say.
Beautiful is all I can say and I like the hair. Actually, very similar to my dear Vi’s.
We all seem to have our opinions and love to share them. We just have to remember when giving and receiving advise. Free advise is usually worth about as much as we paid for it.
Hey, everyone…thanks for the kind words…
Yes, now I can see it. I think it looks sophisticated and cute simultaneously. My Mom would love it. I’ll have to show you to her so she can tell her haircutter how she wants it for the next time. And Nat’s right, you always spike it a bit for variation, if you want. In any case, the shorter one cuts hair, the quicker it grows, so probably just when you get used to it, it will grow itself out.
Peace and all good things!
